Back on the Blog

It has been about 8 months since my last blog-post in the throes of the San Diego wildfires. I thought I'd post a brief update and try to post more frequently going forward. So, what of significance has happened in the last 8 months?

In no particular order:
  • Zachary graduated from High School at the San Diego Jewish Academy
  • Monica installed hearing aids
  • Zachary "organized" and executed an effective fund raising campaign that yielded significant scholarship assistance for his year of study in Israel next year with NATIV
  • I started a new job
  • Zachary has left home to work a summer camp job at Camp Ramah Darom in Georgia
  • I researched and fell in love with the idea of acquiring a dog. I thought we should adopt 2 retired racing greyhounds (it makes more sense for us than you might think). We were approved by the adoption "agency" but Monica has put the idea on hold for now. My stealth campaign proceeds apace.
  • Zachary was admitted to Cal State University, San Marcos and San Diego State University. SDSU was his first choice school!
  • Monica and I went to the Del Mar Fair and Monica won a ribbon for her Salsa. I also entered the same contest (condiment, not dancing) but didn't win anything.

What is coming up?
Monica is making an extended visit to Kansas City this summer
Zachary arrives in Israel on September 2, 2008 and returns on May 25, 2009
Monica and I will visit NY between October 10 and 19 for two family simchas, the Jacob Lurie Bar Mitzvah and the Eliana Drescher Bat Mitzvah.
Monica and I intend to visit Zachary in Israel during his gap year there.

I'll post more about my job soon. Meanwhile, enjoy your summer!
